Programme of Inquiry

Programme of Inquiry

At Little Em's, our jointly crafted Programme of Inquiry embodies the distinctive essence of our school's educational philosophies and aspirations. This academic year's Programme of Inquiry (POI) revolves around the theme "A Journey of Exploration". It's structured around six transdisciplinary themes aligned with the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) framework:

  1. Who we are.
  2. Where we are in place and time.
  3. How we express ourselves.
  4. How the world works.
  5. How we organize ourselves.
  6. Sharing the planet.

These interconnected themes offer our students genuine learning experiences that extend beyond the confines of traditional subjects. Although subjects retain their significance, the PYP learners at Little Em's venture into real-world challenges that transcend subject boundaries. This enables students to reflect on the significance of their learning, leading to meaningful actions within their local community and the broader global context.

To achieve this objective, the instructional approach at Little Em's is rooted in a combination of play-based and project-based methods. These approaches system from our strong beliefs and rich experiences in the Reggio Emilia Approach®, sure every step of our educational journey is both exciting and meaningful.
